A Review of a Product That Has Proven Performance All Along
Fossil Gen 5 Smartwatch review: Is it Worth It? The good stuff is here – but not quite yet. For this reviewer though, I’m happy to share my experience with a pre-production model of the Fossil Gen 5 Smartwatch. The Gen is designed to be a running watch, with GPS and other “smart technologies” built in. But if you want a more utilitarian smart watch, this one’s not for you. Its updated specs, new hardware, and battery life capabilities make for one of the best Wear OS experience you could get right now, though.
Looks and Display The screen on the Fossil Gen 5 Smartwatch isn’t anything special. It’s a standard LCD screen, though it’s larger than the screens of many other smartwatches. That doesn’t matter, because it’s sharp and colors come through loud and clear. One of the main complaints people have about smartwatches (compared to traditional watches) is that they tend to have poor display resolution, especially when compared to the LCD screen of cell phones. However, this one has excellent display resolution, even for a smartwatch.
Fitness The heart rate monitor is a great fitness tool, as is the GPS. These two features are both included on the Fossil Gen 5 smartwatches. The GPS locates your location and displays your location on a map. You can also step into a specific area and have the watch direct you there, should you choose to. This is great for exercising outdoors.
Connectivity and Software Since the Fossil Gen 5 Carlyle Watch supports many of the same features that other GPS devices have, it’s important that it also has an easy to use Connectivity Center. As with many GPS devices, the Connectivity Center lets you pair your device with any of a multitude of mobile apps. Some of those apps include Nike, Jawbone, TomTom, MapQuest, Android Auto, Sonar and many others. If you have an older version of Android, you might not be able to use these apps. In addition, the Gen 5 Carlyle watch doesn’t support Bluetooth, which limits its functionality.
Battery life The Fossil Gen 5 Smartwatch lasted just two hours and forty-two minutes on the battery. That’s not too bad, especially since it has such a high-powered feature. However, if you don’t plan to use your smartwatch every day or walk more than a few miles each day, then you probably won’t go that long without using it. The battery life does help make it convenient to have with you though. You can also do things like internet banking and online shopping with your Fossil Gen 5, as well as listening to music and taking pictures.
Price The price of the Fossil Gen 5 is slightly more than that of an average ios smartwatch, but it’s still a pretty good investment. It costs about one hundred and thirty-nine dollars for the basic model, which includes the band, charger, ear phone and LED light. While it’s not the most powerful device available today, it does have all the right features and options, including multi-tasking so you’ll never be left waiting for something to load on your watch again.
Special features Even if you aren’t looking to utilize the Connect feature on your Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch review looks good enough to continue. There are several other special features available, however. They include alerts that sound automatically when your watch is worn. There’s also a fitness program included with the GPS watch. This allows you to keep track of your pulse rate, distance covered and calories burned during your workouts. As with many fitness programs, this one varies in accuracy based on your current fitness level, so you’ll need to constantly update it as you get more fit.
These watches make a great gift for someone you know, or even yourself. You won’t be disappointed with your purchase when you consider that it has all the features you would look for in a smartwatch. If you want to be ahead of the trend, you should probably purchase a Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch for yourself. You can always use it to make comparisons to see if the competition is catching up to the Fossil brand, as well!
