Garmin Instinct Features
Garmin Instinct features are well-known by outdoors enthusiasts and technology buffs who use GPS navigation devices for all kinds of activities. This GPS for the outdoors watch was created by a group of highly motivated outdoor watch designers led by their technical guru, Jost van der Valk. He developed Garmin Instinct because he wanted a GPS for the outdoors with the same high-performance reliability and durability of other top-of-the-line GPS navigators.
When you can count on Instinct, your GPS can count on you too. This rugged, dependable, waterproof, indoor/outdoor GPS watch comes standard in black or olive drab colors and comes with an easy-to-use GPS location services and weather widget. The watch face has a clear display, but the innards are tough, too. This watch makes it easy to program multiple locations for the same time with its exclusive Garmin Connectivity Services.
Garmin Instinct is also a powerful workout companion with many innovative health and fitness applications, such as a heart rate monitor, workout modes, and timekeeper with step counter. The Instinct runs on the popular Casio wristband platform, making it a convenient multi-platform GPS device. The watch has a unique eight-stage workout modes including Tour, Multi, Sports, Peak, Sport+, and Interval training. You can also preview your workout routines in the GPS position services section of the Garmin Connectivity Service.
Garmin’s new line of watches also includes a sleep monitor capability, which uses the optional optical heart rate monitor sensors included in the watch. With this sensor technology, you can analyze your heart rate during your actual sleep. It provides you with the most accurate readings. The watch’s sport mode can be paired with your outdoor activities to get you ready for the next best thing.
One of the Garmin Instinct features that set it apart from other watches is the built-in three-axis compass. This watch has a built-in accelerometer and will also work when submerged up to two meters under water. A band, a buckle, and a backlight control the light from the compass.
Another handy feature is the Power Manager, which allows you to maintain the desired battery life even when you’re pushing the maximum limit of the batteries. The Power Manager feature shuts down some unnecessary processes in order to conserve battery power. Other popular Garmin Instinct features include the heart rate monitor, the built-in map reader, the water resistance, the calorie counter, the speed navigator, the optical heart rate monitor, the compass, the phonebook, and the customizable skins. You can have fun for hours on end with the Garmin Instinct.
Garmin has added GPS to their smartwatch lineup as well. The Garmin Instinct running watch has the same GPS navigation features as the tactical edition, as well as the same basic features that come with any smartwatch. You can track your speed, distance, heart rate, calories burned, speed of running or walking, and more with the Garmin Instinct. If you need to know the time, you only need to glance at the time on the watch. If you need more detailed information, such as calories burned or distance covered, you simply need to take out your cell phone and make a call, or simply tap your palm against the small black display screen.
The one thing that really draws some criticism about the Garmin Instinct is its lack of a chest strap. This watch does not come with a strap, so you have to purchase one separately. There are some special mounts that you can buy, but they are pricey and they can sometimes be difficult to find. Also, because this watch does not come with a charging cable, you have to get a power adapter from your computer in order to charge your watch, or you can connect to an outlet via micro USB cable. Overall, this is a very nice watch, but as with any Garmin product, you are going to have to decide if it’s enough of a solution for your needs.
