Review of Devialet Gemini Active Noise Cancelling Headphones
The new Active Noise Cancelling in-ears from Devialet Gemini are designed to work with the GXperia smartphones. They are extremely popular with consumers due to their excellent build quality and excellent sound quality. Many users also say that they are comfortable to wear. A high-quality pair of in-ears will make any fashion statement look even better, but what exactly makes a pair of active in ear headphones worth their price? We’ll answer that question in this review!
The first feature we’ll look at is the battery life. While it is not exceptionally short, the Devialet Gemini has about six hours of battery life. This is good, but as with many of the battery life powered earbuds on the market, it could do with having a few more.
With the active noise cancellation technology of the Devialet Gemini, it’s easy to see why they are so popular amongst people. The Gemini has a patented passive noise cancellation technology, which allows it to offer wireless in ear headphones that have nearly zero cancellations whatsoever. This means that these in earbuds can’t block out all of the surrounding noises, but they don’t matter either because they are completely silent. These unique sound quality is what differentiates the Devialet Gemini from many of their competitors, and it is what sets the gemini apart from more traditional in earbuds as well.
When it comes to sound quality, the Gemini does well. However, it does suffer from one major drawback that we’ll look at later on in this review. It lacks a built in noise cancellation system, but instead its advanced technology relies upon the app to take care of this. What the app does for the most part is to provide a consistent source of external sound that is crystal clear and rich in bass. What this means is that you don’t get the enhanced sound effects that many other Bluetooth earbuds offer, but what you do get is a superior sound reproduction overall. In other words, the Devialet Gemini acts as though it is listening through two headphones at once.
The innovative and futuristic design of the Devialet Gemini means that it can be conveniently and quickly charged via any USB port. Because of this, the in ear buds don’t require you to carry around a separate pair of batteries when you’re not using them. This means that you never have to worry about running out of power and that you always get plenty of use out of your gemini. Because these buds charge via USB, they also qualify as a portable Bluetooth device, which will give them real value for money.
The modern version of the original Devialet Gemini is essentially the same product in terms of size and design. However, they have now made some modifications that mean that they are even more suitable for use with your car speaker system than their original model was. One of the most noticeable changes is the fact that there is now a power LED on the bottom right hand corner of the buds themselves. This enables you to know instantly whether they are transmitting sound or not. In fact, the original Gemini only transmitted audible sound, which meant that you would need to use your MP3 player to listen to them (and the volume would inevitably be set to high levels to compensate). Because the original model relied on the power LED for its illumination, it was incredibly easy to forget that you were actually listening to music and driving in your car!
Another major difference between the original Gemini and the latest model is the inclusion of the revolutionary Active Noise Cancelling (ANS) feature. The key difference here is that the Gemini utilizes the technology of a diaphragm rather than an air chamber as the source of noise cancellation. This results in both a greater clarity of sound and a reduction in internal delay. What this means for you is that if you want to listen to music with clear external sound with an exceptionally tight and refined bass impact then you will want to invest in a pair of Devialet Gemini Active Noise Cancelling headphones.
If we were to take a look at the frequency range that the Gemini’s receive then we would certainly be looking in the right direction. The frequency range is classified as “medium band” which is to say that it contains frequencies up to about one hundred fifty hertz. In addition to this the range is classified as “fantastic frequencies”. It is very likely that you will be able to enjoy these sounds from a wide variety of musical genres. The reason why the Gemini are so good at reproducing deep bass sounds, although somewhat limited, is because the frequencies they do contain are usually more mid-level and are therefore easier to reproduce than the higher tones that they are designed to cover.
